PSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

DURATION

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGDE/PGDIRM/ PGDRD)            –           2 to 4 Semesters
  • Masters in Resource Development (MRD)                           –           2 to 4 Semesters
  • M.A/M.Ed./M.Sc./M.Sc.(Ed)                                                –           4 to 6 Semesters
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)                                                 –           6 to 10 Semesters

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION

The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education admission:

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities;
  2. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas;
  3. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) without Education obtained at Credit level with a three years relevant Postgraduate experience;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
  5. Candidates with Third Class degree in areas other than Education can be considered after three years relevant Postgraduate experience.  Those in the Education may be considered in their area of specialization;
  6. All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.

MASTER’S DEGREE

The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: –

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field; with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent. 
  2. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

The following shall qualify for Professional Masters’ degree admission:

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field; with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent.
  2. Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree in Third Class division who have at least five years relevant working experience.
  3. Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma of a recognized Institution;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree appropriate to the proposed areas of study;
  2. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained Master of Philosophy degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on five (5) point scale on relevant field of study to proceed for PhD in the appropriate field to the proposed area of study;
  3. In addition to (i) – (ii)above, a candidate must possess at least a Bachelors degree in relevant field with Second Class lower division;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University;
  5. Candidate must state the proposed area of research and submit a synopsis of not less than 500 words of the proposed topic of research.

Matriculation Requirement:

In addition to A, B and C above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements of the programme i.e five relevant Credit Passes at the O’level to include English and Mathematics.
