Katsina State Government and the Federal Ministry of Health have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the takeover and conversion of the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina to a Teaching Hospital. When it becomes fully operational, the Teaching Hospital will serve the students of the Faculty of Medicine of UMYU and other paramedical students.
And following the current development, the Government of Katsina State has clearly achieved a feat in securing the Medical Centre to serve the purpose. Similarly, the Teaching Hospital in addition to serving the Faculty of Medicine of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, it will also serve the whole community of the State as well as the neighbouring communities of the State and even beyond.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari signed for Katsina State Government while the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire signed on behalf of the Federal Government. And prior to the signing of the MoU, Governor Aminu Bello had made series of presentations and consultations with the stakeholders at the FMOH towards the actualization of the goal.
In the same vein, it will be recalled that the Vice Chancellor of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, Prof. Sunusi Mamman had severally held fruitful discussions with the State Governor and also did the same with the top echelons of the Federal Ministry of Health for the realization of this novel objective.
Important dignitaries from within and outside Katsina State witnessed the signing of the MoU which was held at the Conference Room of the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja.
