Welcome Address by the Vice Chancellor for the 2018/2019 Academic Session
It is a great pleasure for me to welcome UMYU students for the 2018/2019 session. The session is starting much later than our normal academic Calendar due to several reasons including the disruption of academic activities due to industrial action by academic staff. Nevertheless we are all set now and we are looking forward to a hitch free and successful session.
The University management continues to improve on the learning environment to enable you study and interact very well in a conducive atmosphere. Additional facilities are provided while existing one are improved upon. The facilities improved upon include lecture theatres, classrooms, hostel and conveniences in both the academic areas and the hostels.
For this session the e-learning package is extended to Biochemistry, Chemistry, Economics, English Language and Microbiology programmes. This is in addition to that of the Law programme which we are continuing.
We hope you will embrace the session with determination to succeed in your studies with excellent performance. While for the new students in particular we hope you are coming with the resolve to work hard, interact well with the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) community and be good ambassadors of your family and community.
The management and staff of UMYU, in turn, share the same responsibility to work hard, create the conducive environment to enable you succeed.
The Vision of UMYU is aspiring to be one of the best universities while the Mission is to produce well grounded, sound, God-fearing and entrepreneurially–minded graduates and undertake research for societal development.
Our expectation is you identify the vision and mission of the University towards achieving collective goals and objectives. We are deeply committed to assisting and guiding you and together we believe we will add up to your remarkable stay and experience at UMYU.
The general exemplary good conduct of our students in UMYU is always a source of joy to the management and we want it to be sustained and we hope the tolerance and respect for each and every member of our Community will continue.
We are looking forward to the cooperation of everyone towards a successful completion of the session.
You are most welcome to UMYU.
