Prof. Musa Ahmed Karkarku
With the establishment of Katsina State University (now Umaru Musa Yarádua University), Faculty of Humanities was among the three pioneer faculties that commenced academic activities in the 2006/2007 session at the temporary site of Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic building.
Professor Aliyu Kamal was the pioneer Dean from 2006-2008. Dr. Aliyu Muri took over the mantle of leaderhip as the Dean from 2008-2009 and was succeeded by Prof. Aminu Yandaki from 2009-2010, while Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim was appointed as Dean from 2010-2015. Currently, Dr. Musa Ahmad Karkarku was elected as Dean with effect from 2015 and Dr. Saíd Usman Muhammad Alkali as the Deputy Dean. The current Faculty Officer is Mohammed Nasir Imam, a Senior Assistant Registrar with Usman Ahmed as Assistant Faculty Officer.

The fundamental concern of the Arts Disciplines (Humanities) is with Man and his complex nature, especially his multifaceted relationships with the world around him and beyond. It is in this context that each Arts discipline tries to investigate and explain those aspects of Man’s nature that particularly concern or challenge him.
We envision a Faculty as the fountainhead and springboard for knowledge that strives to attract and nurture outstanding scholars and students through excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, research and knowledge exchange; with a particular emphasis on advancing knowledge in various disciplines of Arts and Humanities.
The mission of the Faculty is to groom graduates brimming with inspiration, sagacity and creativity that yearn to forge their human environment forward and to make positive impact in the society in various human ventures and to display innovative skills for leadership in public and private organizations.
OBJECTIVES OF THE FACULTY
i. To develop and enhance students’ awareness of the values, contributions, and potentialities of their own social, cultural and spiritual environment;
ii. To equip them to contribute meaningfully towards the attainment of national goals and the satisfaction of national needs;
iii. To instill in them the spirit of self-reliance, self-pride and self-actualization;
iv. To ensure that all programmes should have a built-in mechanism in which national aspirations are affirmed. Such mechanism should take cognizance of the following issues: socio-political developments, the economy of the society, the fact of our pluralistic society, and the need to forge a strong and united country.
